Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty San Francisco
With the invention of facial/dermal fillers like restylane and radiesse, we really do have many great options for improving facial contours. The nose, in particular, is an area that can reap great benefit, with an immediate result and no downtime. At Union Square Facial Plastic Surgery, the process for nonsurgical rhinoplasty begins with an analysis of your face and a conversation about your goals. Sometimes the issue is obvious to the patient, and other times it is helpful to take photos and render computer-generated morphed images to assure that the patient and Dr. Chiu-Collins have the same goal in mind. A lot can be achieved with nonsurgical rhinoplasty and within minutes, the patient is able to see the result of a finely-controlled augmentation of a flat nasal bridge, or see the resolution of nasal asymmetries or “dents”. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty is also generally very good at making a “short” nose appear longer, without actually making the nose longer. It can make a “wide” and flat nose appear narrower both on the bridge, and at the tip. It can make a flat bridge appear taller as well. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty is especially effective at refining the shape of some ethnic noses.
There are some conditions that non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot improve, e.g. a large nose, a wide tip, or a crooked septum or collapsing nostrils. As a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Chiu-Collins is highly specialized in both surgical and nonsurgical rhinoplasty. She will assure you that you are being offered all possible and appropriate options, and she will take the time to educate you on each one of them. At your in-person consultation, she will analyze your face, discuss your goals and desires, and develop a unique treatment plan just for you.
Preparation for Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty
Although bruising is not likely with filler injection by Dr. Chiu-Collins, it is possible. Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding have an increased chance of bruising or bleeding at the injection site. You should inform Dr. Chiu-Collins before treatment if you are using: Alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo, Green Tea, Garlic, Ginseng, St John’s Wort, or any herbal medications. You should avoid Aspirin containing products for 10 days before your procedure, and you should avoid NSAIDS (Ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin, Aleve, etc) and herbal supplements for 7 days prior to your treatment. Avoid alcohol 48 hours prior to treatment. If you are prescribed any of these medications by your physician, you must consult with them prior to stopping any medication.
Recovery from Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty
Nonsurgical rhinoplasty takes only a few minutes, and there is no recovery time needed! You may resume your usual activities immediately, except we advise no exercise for the rest of the treatment day. The effects of the treatment may last 6-18 months or longer depending on the area treated and what type of filler used.
Always A Team Approach
When you come in for your consultation, Dr. Chiu-Collins will walk you through every step of the process, from education and facial analysis, to pretreatment instructions, the treatment itself, and what to expect afterwards.
